Sunset at Montevecchia

We made it -right on time
to experience today's spectacular sunset at Montevecchia,
a little village located in the Province of Lecco.
Sometimes heaven is just around the corner...

The silhouette

Vallisnera di Collagna, RE
“For me, a landscape does not exist in its own right, since its appearance changes at every moment; but the surrounding atmosphere brings it to life – the light and the air which vary continually. For me, it is only the surrounding atmosphere which gives subjects their true value.”

Shapes in the mist

Some days after winter solstice
the sun isn't yet winning against darkness.
Walking in the mist can be one way to improve your creative imagination.
You may find trees looking like humans
or some appear like impressionist paintings...

CasaKoivu is calming down for Christmas
and wishing you a warm and peaceful holiday.
CasaKoivu rauhoittuu nyt joulun viettoon
ja toivottaa kaikille lukijoilleen Lämmintä ja Rauhallista Joulua.
My favourite Christmas song is Sylvian joululaulu.
It's very emotional specially for a finn like me living abroad.
Minulle kaunein ja koskettavin joululaulu on Sylvian joululaulu.
Sen sanat saavat ulkosuomalaisen herkistymään erityisellä tavalla.
Sen soinnuissa vielä kerran rauhaisaa joulumieltä!

The forest

I love daydreaming.
Closing my eyes and finding myself somewhere else... in a snowy forest... one around just animal traces in the fresh snow leading into the distance...

Inspired by snow

The landscape is so poetic when it's snowing.
Makes me feel like a child again using snow
as my playground...

...and inspiration;
there are always space for some snow flakes cut out of paper
at my windows...
...and a simple snow lantern made my garden magic.

Once upon a time...

Like every person has their story
so does every item.
I'm fascinated of things where you can see patina of age.
Last time i went to Finland
my mom gave me these beautiful Christmas tree candle clips,
originals and vintage since our very first Christmas tree was decorated with them.
Besides using the clips on the tree
i wanted to find an alternative option to decorate.
Here, the famous carriage!

White inspiration

My cozy Christmas atmosphere is made of candle light,
simple handmade ornaments,
a world of
tastes and scents;
 Nordic glögg and ginger biscuits,
Christmas tree and
biscuits baked by my sister<3
I'm an avid second hand market's visitor
and love ricycling items.
This old colander
placed at my window is now bearing hyacinths and
adorned with lace.
What about you,
do you enjoy visiting second hand markets
and what is your last treasure?

Rosemary's wreath

This autumn was warmer than usual here in Northern Italy.
My garden is so generous anytime of the year.
After harvesting prunes, pears and grapevines and picking the last flowers,
the time has come to get my garden
winter is truly knocking at the door
and we are waiting for
the first snow
to fall.
I made this simple wreath from grapevine branches twisted into circle
and decorated it with some rosemary.
A place where i hang it is the old entrance of my house.

The blue hour

Season's magic is truly in the air...first days of december are breezy and evenings crispy. Days are getting shorter and circle is closing to begin all over again.
My home touch by the blue hour:

Christmas on wheels

My three-wheeled carriage is busy in these days. Yesterday it took part at the Finnish Christmas party of the Finnish school in Milan. Bunnies, cats and squirrels had the best cruise ever!
Kolmipyöräiset vaununi osallistuivat eilen Milanon Suomi-koulun suomalaiseen joulujuhlaan. Hauskalle ajelulle pääsivät lasten askartelemat kanit, kissat ja oravat!
...and while the dusk falls my carriage undergoes metamorphosis...
...ja hämärän saapuessa vaununi käyvät läpi muodonmuutoksen...
